Warmboard contributes to healthy and clean indoor air quality, while providing superior comfort. Germs, dust, pollen and mold spores generally associated with forced air systems do not apply to Warmboard. Additionally, the high conductivity of the panel leads to lower water temperatures, creating greater efficiency that ultimately benefits the environment.

Conservation Includes the Heating of a Home

In many ways Warmboard is a contributor to conservation.

In terms of water consumption, Warmboard is a minimalist. Stated by the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Census Bureau, we live in a world housing a population exceeding 6.6 billion people, where the average person uses 80-100 gallons of water per day.

Warmboard and the heating system components require very little water to operate.

According to Jennifer McDonald, director of design at Warmboard, an average home of 2,500 sq ft with Warmboard radiant sub floors and tubing installed will contain approximately 25 to 30 gallons of water for the life of the home that never needs to be drained and replaced.

Additionally, Warmboard recognizes that construction material waste can add up during new construction and remodels. To address this concern, highly educated and trained employees design the layout of the Warmboard to provide an exact number of the panels needed. This precision helps the person install the flooring with ease as well as reducing construction material waste and decreasing the expenditures.

Furthermore, Warmboard requires lower temperatures of water to heat a space compared to other similar products. Because of this, Warmboard pairs beautifully with solar panels and geo thermal pumps. The combination of these two components creates a more efficient, money saving, comfortable place to live and work.

Warmboards Director of Technical Services, Paul Izenstark said, “The combination of Warmboard and solar energy is an ideal interface because it is easier to produce water temperatures of 100_ F than 120_ F.” He adds, “We live in a time where heat sources in our life time will change to renewable resources. Warmboard has the capability to sustain the change, from non-renewable heat resources to alternative ones”

Lower water temperatures means a lower energy bill of 20 to 40 percent. No longer is Warmboard a modern luxury just for the home enthusiast, but it is a product that is sustainable in terms of energy efficiency and low impact on the world’s resources. As design professional, Ken Pieper said, “It just makes sense.”

Of course it does.

Reduce Wasted Energy, Heat Loss and Increase Comfort Level

Imagine living in a home that does not cost a fortune to heat. With Warmboard this can be achieved even in the coldest of climates, like Antarctica, where Warmboard is being used to heat up one of the coldest places on Earth.

Unlike conventional forced air heating systems that heat an entire home, Warmboard is the ultimate comfort heating system and it’s practical. In the layout design of the Warmboard radiant sub floor, several zones are created to keep heat loss and waste to a minimum. In having various zones in a home, one area may be heated while others, by choice, are not.

The zones vary depending on personal choice. In general, zones may consist of the main living areas such as the family room, kitchen and common bathrooms. Sleeping quarters, office space and other less frequented are often on a separate zone. In fact, some homeowners prefer to have each room on a separate zone thus creating total control over the energy usage.

Another major advantage of using this system is the way the heat warms the lower to mid part of the room, reducing ceiling temperatures and ultimately saving energy.

According to the California Energy Commission, Americans use twice as much energy as necessary to heat their homes. These forced air systems, mainly heat the ceiling surface area, not the living spaces where the people are.
Unlike other radiant floor systems that take hours to reach a desired temperature, the Warmboard heating system, heats and cools down specific areas practically on demand.

Warmboard radiant panels have the ability to react quickly to temperature changes due to a highly conductive, thick aluminum that is bonded to 1 ⅛ inch plywood sub floor. Modular channels are routed in the plywood and inlaid with PEX tubing. This patented design creates an efficient radiant floor, without hot spots, or inconsistent heating temperatures.

Maintaining a Healthier Life for Your Family

Bill Shady, owner of Pacific Solar Radiant, with twenty years of experience in the building industry says, “It is possible to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimize waste and create a healthy and productive environment in the home.”

Warmboard was invented by Terry Alsberg, because he wanted a healthier alternative to heat his home. Both of his children suffered from Asthma and the conventional forced air heating system seemed to increase their need for an inhaler.

Allergens, dust particles and mold spores are harbored in the ventilation ducts of a forced air heating system and they become airborne when the system is activated. Warmboard reduces these particles from infiltrating the home, because it does not force air to circulate.

In a nut shell, Warmboard is not just another alternative heat source for the home. It is healthier and environmentally conscious product that is simply, a smarter way of life. So this is why people are making the choice to get on board with Warmboard.

What our customers say:

“Widely accepted as the most comfortable, healthy and energy efficient form of heat”

“Grand Park, [Co.] is committed to creating a community that sets new standards for quality in Grand County…Grand Park has incorporated the practices of green building into the first neighborhood…One of the most luxurious features in the homes…is the use of Warmboard radiant heat. Widely accepted as the most comfortable, healthy and energy efficient form of heat, Warmboard is especially attractive because its systems are easily zoned and have a fast response time, reducing energy usage by heating only the occupied rooms or regions…Because of it’s high conductivity, Warmboard’s 12″ on center tubing outperforms other panels using 6″ on center tubing. This spacing also results in lower material useage. It replaces a traditional plywood sub-floor, further reducing wood useage while its high conductivity reduces the amount of tubing and manifolds needed.”

“It’s an excellent system and we love it.”

Hi Barry, It was fun to finally meet you and to have you see the house that we built in 2001-2002 using Warmboard. As you could tell, we’re very energy conscious and that’s one of the reasons we chose Warmboard. It uses a modest amount of propane in a combi-core unit that supplies hot water too. Combined with our hefty insulation and southern glass orientation, it keeps the house warm all day by only coming on in the morning and evening, after the sun goes down. I have water pipes stubbed to the roof as well and because Warmboard uses a lower water temperature to heat, I believe I can get a lot of what I need from solar collectors when I eventually get them. We love how absolutely silent it is, how little space it takes, and we have had no problems and no maintenance since we moved into the house. With a programmable thermostat the whole system runs continuously, efficiently, and flawlessly on it’s own. We are glad that we found out about Warmboard before construction and were able to incorporate it into our plans. It is an excellent system and we love it.

“The homeowner is very pleased.”

I love Warmboard. The tubing went down really well. The layouts that Warmboard provided were great. What is most impressive is that the water temperatures I run my system at are extremely low and response time is extremely fast, even with all hardwood and tile floors. Warmboards efficiency proved true. The original design takeoff from the engineer was designed in accordance with a slab system, calling for set-back controls and a high efficiency boiler, however none of those setback controls were needed. Warmboard heats the 3500 square foot home with a 75 gal LP gas water heater set at only 95 degrees. The homeowner is extremely pleased. I would absolutely use Warmboard again, in fact I will use it every chance I get. No problems, just awesome.

- Don Moore, Integrity Plumbing, Florence, OR

“Warmboard helps ease our allergies.”

Warmboard was easy for us to install, which was one of the things we enjoyed. We weren’t limited on floor covering choices, and are very pleased with the results and the even distribution of heat. Another reason we chose Warmboard was to get away from blowing dust in our home. It’s a plus for us that Warmboard helps ease our allergies by not compounding the problem like a forced air system would.
