The Swiss Alps provide cold winters and breathtaking views. Like many areas in North America, Switzerland braves the freezing temperatures by using the latest technologies to stay warm.
A new penthouse has been added to a complex located in the town of Montreux, a lakeside resort that houses a mixture of low-income to higher-end apartments. The premises were renovated in 2009 to accommodate guests with the latest technologies and modern amenities, The New York Times reported.
The new apartments will feature wooden cabinetry, granite countertops and a refrigerator with a bottom drawer freezer. A wine cellar has been added to the basement of the property, and a radiant heating system was installed in the floors throughout the building, according to the news source.
While some of these amenities may seem like luxury items, the long-term costs were thought to be worth the initial investment from the property group, reported The Times.
Radiant heating systems can help to provide warmth while giving the homeowner a feeling of complete comfort. Other in-floor systems may take six-to-ten hours to heat the whole space, while radiant technology provides this warmth in only two to three hours.
