A shingle-styled home has recently been listed for sale in Wellesley, Massachusetts, that is wowing potential homebuyers. The property is unique among the traditional Colonials that make up many of the houses in the small New England town. The 18-room property features a number of amenities and tons of character for the homeowner who wants to stand out from the crowd.
Wicked Lock reported that the seven-bedroom estate is about 9,578 square feet in size and includes a matching carriage house that includes a studio apartment and a two-car heated garage with storage cabinets. The current pristine condition of the house was not what was there before the current homeowner took control of the property and renovate the interior.
"You could see what you could do with it," said the owner, who fell in love with period details such as the glass doorknobs and Palladian window, according to the news source. "It was really ideal, the house with all its warmth and character, all the land, and yet you could walk to town."
During the renovations the homeowner decided to include a number of sustainable technologies and materials to improve the operational efficiency of such a large property and decrease utility costs. Wicked Local reported that the renovation took approximately two years to complete and amenities like energy-efficient appliances and lighting and a radiant floor heating system were put in. The heating technology is able to maintain the temperature in the house without constantly having to burn oil or natural gas. This allows for the creation of a luxurious and relaxed atmosphere, while reducing the monthly costs associated with running the house during the cooler months.
