The Colgate Mansion in Sharon, Connecticut, has more than a few people drooling over the thought of its sparkling floors, exquisite architecture and massive size. The County Times reports that the Litchfield County house is surrounded by woods and lawn and is freshly gleaming with a new coat of white paint.

The turn-of-the-century home makes quite a statement to passersby in the middle of the quiet countryside. The property spans 110 acres, not far from the New York border. The mansion has recently been listed as for sale and is on the market for $8.9 million. The news source reports that the price is actually a steal, considering that recreating the home would cost approximately $4.3 million today. The house was initially constructed for $2 million.

Colgate Mansion offers plentiful features that a potential buyer may find attractive. According to the news source the home has an original elevator in working condition, hand-carved marble fireplaces, oak and walnut wall paneling and radiant flooring heating. In addition, there are several skylights located throughout the home, including in the kitchen.

"The interior of the home is very symmetrical," Ms. Clair told the news source, "which makes it very pleasing to the eye. The views from some of the rooms are amazing."

Spectacular details and amenities included in the property like radiant floor heating offer a potential homebuyer the full luxury experience. The radiant heating provides warmth throughout the house, despite its size, and reduces energy expenses associated with running the household. There is no house quite like this one in the area. The County Times reports that people are more likely to expect this sort of property near the famous Newburyport mansion area along the coast.
