The use of energy efficient technology like radiant heating or stormwater collection systems can often help to increase the value of a property, as these additions are not only seen as green and revolutionary, they also reduce the long-term operating costs of a residence.

The Wall Street Journal reported that a new residence located in South Brooklyn, New York has included a number of energy efficient technologies and realtors will use these additions to increase the value of the property.

According to the news outlet, the couple that originally built the residence will have a tough time leaving and selling the property, as they grew comfortable in the many luxurious amenities that were installed in the home.

"I put all my love into this house and I really have mixed emotions about leaving it," the former owner told the Journal. "I just felt until a year ago that he was in here. But it's getting to the point where I have to get on with my life."

The home features a stormwater runoff collection system and a radiant heating system, along with a number of other technologies that increase the comfort for residents, but also lower operating costs.

Radiant heating systems not only help to limit operating costs, but they also are the most comfortable form of heating available on the market.

Certain products, like a Warmboard radiant heating system, allow for maximum comfort to be achieved with as little energy expenditure as possible. This is done through the use of an efficient design, as the paneling for the product is made of a highly-conductive aluminum material that helps to spread heat out evenly and effectively.
