The winners for a professional design competition held by Armstrong World Industries were announced in Pennsylvania, according to UK Flooring Direct.
Although the many entries varied in terms of which material and design were used as part of their showcase, any of these flooring options can be placed under an in-floor radiant heating system.
The news source reported that the competition, dubbed the i2R 2011, involved designers who showcase their work with a selection of the company's products. Flooring trends were adhered to by the winners, as more than 140 entrants submitted projects to the event.
According to UK Flooring Direct, one winner used a variety of colors for vinyl flooring, as they created a bright atmosphere that brought out the vibrant interior for the model home. A second winner chose to employ a more innovative strategy, using a mosaic of colorful tiles that were fixed in an intricately planned configuration.
The winners mirrored the latest flooring trend that features a broad range of colors and patterns on a more traditional vinyl, as opposed to the new products that many new-wave designers have been touting, according to the news source.
A radiant heating system that is installed as part of a subfloor can be placed under any type of flooring, and homeowners have the option of choosing the most trendy or cheaper products to use in their house.
This technology not only helps to give a homeowner many options for flooring, but it also allows for a comfortable warmth to permeate throughout the house. The radiant design helps to spread the heat out more evenly than conventional heaters, which limits the temperature difference between the floor and ceiling.
