The interior design world is full of imitators and knock offs, but this is not the only similarity to the world of fashion, as the two sectors are surprisingly alike when one examines them side by side.
According to a release from the North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA), there are just as many trends in the world of flooring, as fashion is not the only industry that relies on customer feedback and is constantly changing.
"Home decorating trends change in the same way clothing fashion does," said Bill Dearing, president of the NAFLA. "What's in our closets evolves, and the same goes for the décor of our homes. Flooring's no exception."
There are a number of trending materials, but laminate floors have provided homeowners with a finish that can adapt to the latest styles and looks.
According to the release, the realistic feel and look of hardwood is just one of the things that laminate flooring can mimic, and to the common observer, it is often difficult to tell the difference between the two.
"Any design you can imagine is possible in laminate," Dearing says. "Unique and rare species that aren't possible in real wood, and marbles and stones that would cost thousands of dollars – all of it's possible in laminate design."
Another trending product in the world of flooring is radiant heating, as this technology can be placed under a material in order to provide a family with a more efficient and cost-friendly heating system.
This technology also helps to not damage flooring, if certain products are used. Warmboard radiant heating systems do not bring harm to floor coverings, as the heat pumped through the paneling is not hot enough to affect the material.
