Homes that are in high-priced areas or places with where small plots of property are assigned could benefit from the use of custom-designed furniture and technology like a radiant heating system.
According to the Victoria Times Colonist, maximizing the use of efficient technology and small, yet comfortable furniture can help to create more space in any home.
"Given the size of condos today, you simply have to do more than one thing with one thing," Danielle Lareau, principal of the Vancouver-based Giraffe Design Corp, told the news source. "You have no choice but to be more creative."
Lareau recommended that homeowners invest in couches that can double as a bed, a coffee table that can become a full dining room table, smaller bookshelves for only the essential novels and closet space that needs to be utilized at all costs, according to the Times Colonist.
A radiant heating system can help to provide maximum comfort in a small amount of space. The technology doesn't require the use of radiators, air vents or heating ducts, all of which can take up space and hurt the aesthetics of a small home.
