A modern home with accommodations for pets and children has recently been built in Erin, Ontario, as the family sought a green residence that would be comfortable for the whole family, according to The Globe and Mail.
Robin Ward, an interior decorator who oversaw the project, and her husband designed the house as a solution to having three young children and more than seven pets while trying to maintain a green and sustainable lifestyle, reported the news source.
"The house is kid and pet proof," Robin told the Globe and Mail. "The house is low maintenance and was built to last without the need for tedious chores. The garden as well. The functionality of the house was a key part of the design."
The home features a large garage, a 40-foot swimming pool, energy efficient lighting, foam insulated walls, a modern air conditioning unit and a radiant heating system that provides warmth to the whole house during the cold Canadian winters, according to the news source.
Radiant heating systems allow houses to have an efficient source of heat without the appearance of unsightly radiators and heating ducts that could detract from the value of the residence.
