The home of Bedford Hills, New York High School theatre teacher William Friedman was turned into a stage for a cast of local politicians who were interested in viewing the energy-efficient renovation that was done, according to the Bedford Journal News.
Representative Nan Hayworth, a freshman in the House of Representatives, toured the home in order to assess the effectiveness of a bill that she had signed. She saw the use of efficient technology like LED lighting and a radiant heating system while walking around Friedman's residence, the news source reported.
Friedman explained the installation of the new technology into his home to the group of politicians and local reporters.
"I'm delighted with the process and what I am learning makes it like going to school," Friedman told the News. "Insulation may not seem like a hard thing to do, but the ways these guys do it and the way I would do it are completely different things."
A radiant heating system can provide an energy-efficient source of warmth without the appearance of any new technology. The system doesn't require the use of radiators or heating ducts.
