A South Haven, Michigan couple has looked to improve their living situation by remodeling a former factory building into a new condo, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette.
Kathi Campbell and her family decided to use the exterior and foundation of the factory as a way to make a comfortable yet stylish residence. The two-story, 4,009-square-foot condo comes complete with modern conveniences and technology while still retaining the feel of an older building, the news source reported.
The residence still has some of the remnants of the old factory in the design, as several of the new amenities have the appearance of a metallic wall or floor that would exist in a manufacturing building, reported the Gazette.
"My wife’s vision took the bareness and created a home that is both modern and comfortable," Patrick Campbell, told the news source. "I wake up and look around and say, 'Wow!'"
Radiant heating systems can help homeowners provide heat while maintaining a high level of comfort, as the technology allows for only 2 to 3 degrees difference in temperature between the ceiling and floor, significantly less than a forced-air system.
