WARMBOARD PROVIDING RADIANT HEAT AND COMFORT IN CHICAGO’S MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY SMART HOME: GREEN + WIRED EXHIBIT
(APTOS, CA) May, 2008 – Warmboard is excited about being featured in the Smart Home: Green + Wired, Powered by ComEd and Warmed by Peoples Gas exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.
Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit features a fully-functioning, three-story modular and sustainable “green” home in its own backyard to showcase the ways, big and small, that people can make eco-friendly living a part of their lives—and to highlight unique home technologies for the 21st century.
The home designed by Michelle Kaufmann Designs™ and built by All-American Homes™ celebrates exciting new directions in sustainable living and spectacular, environmentally-friendly technologies. Guests will be offered guided tours of the 2,500-square-foot home and surrounding grounds, located in a park on the east side of the Museum. The exhibit opened May 8, 2008 and runs through January 4, 2009.
The home features high performance, energy efficient building systems, one of which is Warmboard Radiant Subfloor. Warmboard radiant heat is utilized as the heat source on the first and second floors of the building and was selected because of its contributions to both energy efficiency and healthy, clean indoor air quality.
Other sustainable features of the home include eco-friendly furniture and design materials, a “green” roof that also includes solar film, a rain catchment system, sustainable vegetable garden and the latest available home technology innovations. The design of the home together with these innovative materials and advanced systems combine to create a healthy environment that dramatically reduces the carbon footprint of the home. The home tour will offer tangible and simple ways for Museum guests to start their green lifestyle.
Smart Home: Green + Wired is a must-see exhibit for anyone who wants their home, and life, to be smarter, more efficient and more in tune with the environment than it is today. Tickets for the exhibit are on sale now at www.msichicago.org. The exhibit is principally sponsored by ComEd and Peoples Gas. Additional sponsors are American Honda Co, Inc.; Dominick’s; and Motorola Foundation.
